North Macedonia’s Foreign Ministry has ordered the expulsion of three Russian diplomats, the third such move since Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

According to an official statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia, three diplomats from the Russian Embassy in Skopje were declared persona non grata. The statement was issued on September 12th, but it did not specify the actions that led to this decision. Macedonian authorities referred to information about the diplomats' activities that violated the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs immediately reacted to this decision, labeling it as "inappropriate and hostile." In their statement, they also expressed concerns that North Macedonia would have to face the consequences of this action.
